Finally some more activity from my mouseguest. Awoke once more to rustling and the mouse's attempts to drag kiss under the door (I'd left the plastic bag containing the kisses on the floor as bait). Scurried off when I approached. Snuck back into kiss bag about two or three more times. Every time I approached him in the bag he ran off under my bed. I think he has a hidey hole under there.

Note: I don't actually know the mouse's sex. It's just easier to say he.

No further activity yesterday or today so far. Looks like I may have freaked the little guy so badly he's hiding out right now.

Beginning of week of 26th:

First sighting of mouse- ran from box closet into kitchen and back. Small grey mouse.

November 29th:

Rustling of plastic turned out to be mouse in my trashcan. Tried to trap but escaped. Hours later saw scampering back in. No further obvious activity. Slept on it.

November 30th:

Woke up to thumping noises at about 8:30am- turned out to be mouse trying to pull a Hot Cocoa Hershey's Kiss from my chocolate stash under the door- and failing miserably. The base of the kiss is too wide to fit under the door. All his efforts managed to unwrap the kiss and gouge a hole in the chocolate. Scared him off when I moved the kiss.

Approx. half hour later, woke up again to mouse rustling around in plastic bag the kisses were in. Grabbed up the bag and managed to trap him in a plastic container with small hole punched in top (was originally going to be temporary betta fish travel cup until I found something better. Note to self: desperate mice can crawl out of impossibly tiny holes. Mouse managed to squeeze out and escaped. Mouse bit me once while putting him in container (superficial-more a bruise than anything-barely broke skin) and again while escaping. This one drew blood and hurt like h*ll. I forgot how much rodent bites hurt (former owner of gerbils and a hamster). Cleaned and applied antibiotic ointment and bandage. Mouse was definitely healthy, should not be in danger of infection. Shall pay attention anyway.

Introduction

So, I'm a senior at UMASS living in an half basement apartment in Amherst near the town center. Now, everyone has household pests of some kind. For instance, at home, we have ant "infestations" at certain times of the year as well as the occasional mouse. In my apartment, we specialize in these creepy centipede like bugs and mice. More than one. I'm already been aware of them, as at least one liked to frequent the rooms of two of my roommates that live on the other side of the apartment from me. It wasn't until this week, however, that one of them started visiting my room.

Although its only been a few days, me and my mouseguest (;P) have already had a few adventures. They've been interesting enough that I decided to share them with you. Enjoy reading his sticky situations.

Note: In these logs, I write like I'm taking notes.
